Abstract
429,100. Cavity walls. AIREY, SIR E., 7, Blenheim Terrace, Woodhouse Lane, Leeds. Nov. 21, 1933, Nos. 32477/33 and 8993/34. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] Double or cavity walls are formed of blocks laid dry and having overlapping or abutting projections 7 on the inner faces, Figs. 1, 7, and 10, and recesses 6 on one or more of the remaining faces to form pockets, Fig. 2, which open on the wall face and are filled afterwards with mortar from the outside. The projections 7 may be at the ends, Fig. 1, or at the centre, Fig. 7, the blocks being staggered to overlap opposite blocks in the course below and leave air spaces 3. The projections 7 may abut the faces 8. In a modification, Fig. 9, (not shown), the blocks of Fig. 1 are laid with the apices of the projections abutting. In Fig. 10, the blocks abut and may be tied by ties 11 laid in recesses 12.
