A covering consisting of concrete blocks for the protection of dams, banks and the like is characterised in that the assembly comprises certain blocks a having raised beads projecting above the immediately adjoining blocks b, all the blocks having interengaging projections 2 and depressions 1 at their side faces for holding them in position. In the construction shown the blocks a comprise the alternate blocks in the alternate rows.
