A ceramic wall or floor tile 10 is provided on each side face 14 with equally spaced but asymmetrically arranged lugs 16 to provide a small uniform space between adjacent tiles. The edges of the front face 13 of the tile may be rounded and the rear face 12 may be ribbed.
