Abstract

401,557. Bricks. EVANS, T., 34, Orchard Street, Pontardawe, Swansea. March 6, 1933, No. 6679. [Class 87 (i).] Bricks having flat side and end faces are formed with the side faces b, c bevelled so that the face d is narrower than the face e, and the latter face is formed with grooves h near the sides, the distance between which is greater than the width of the face d. Grooves may also be formed near the ends of the face e. The end faces f are preferably also inclined as shown, to enable the bricks to be used in a wall construction in which the bricks as, a<2>, a<6> serve as stretchers and the bricks a<4>, a<5> serve as headers. The grooves h serve to key with the mortar k, which is protected by the overhanging edges, and also with plaster l. In a modified construction, the bricks are simply arranged as at a<5>, a<2>, a<6>. The bevelled formation may also be utilised in the construction of arches.
