Abstract

715,645. Walls; building blocks. BRUCE, R. Feb. 23, 1953 [Feb. 22, 1952], No. 4765/52. Classes 20 (4) and 87 (1) The upper and lower flanges 9 of cavity blocks are recessed at 10 to present narrow longitudinal bearing surfaces, the blocks being assembled dry and filled with concrete or like. The concrete forms, in the recesses 10, continuous longitudinal fillets at the junction of the blocks and the load is transmitted, in part, through the concrete to the sides of the block. The ends 6 are interlocking and the block is preferably provided with a central division 7. Vertical strips of nailable concrete may be incorporated into the side of the block. According to the Provisional Specification the block may consist of two rectangular blocks joined by ties.
