542,929. Composite beams, and blocks therefor. MORTON, B. July 27, 1940, Nos. 12232/40 and 3363/41. [Class 20 (iv)] Rows of blocks 1 are united by a T-shaped filling of concrete. The blocks may be hollow, formed with retaining flanges 3, 4 and ribbed to key with the concrete. They may be either rectangular or formed with tapered surfaces so that the concrete decreases in thickness towards its edges. When plain rectangular hollow blocks are used, spacing members and side boards provide support for the concrete filling. Block jointing- surfaces may be staggered lengthwise of the rows, the resulting end gaps being concrete-filled. Reinforcing bars may be laid in before filling; projections upstanding from the flange 3 forming supports therefor.
