Abstract
566,800. Wall construction for buildings. USHAW, R. May 31, 1943, No. 8661. [Classes 20 (iii) and 20 (iv)] A building of the kind composed of pre-cast concrete units comprises flat base members 1, 2, 3, which are of half thickness at their ends to engage one another, similar head members 4 and supporting columns 7 ... 11 having extensions at both ends for engaging in apertures in the base and head members, the columns having at least one vertical rib so located that flat panels 13 forming inner and outer walls can rest against them with their outer surfaces flush with the outer surfaces of the columns and base and head members. The columns may be of different shape in cross-section as shown, those at the corners being L-shaped and others of cruciform section, while those 10, 11 adjacent a window are of cruciform section up to the sill member 12 and of T -section from the sill to the'head member. The sill member has recesses 12A to engage the upper ends of the short ribs of the columns. Door openings are bounded at the sides by T-section columns 9, the plane surfaces of which face the opening to receive a door frame.
