Abstract

614,264. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and FOSTER, J. July 8, 1946, No. 20300. [Class 39 (i)] An electron discharge device comprises a cathode 4, Fig. 2, surrounded by an elliptical anode 10 with radial cooling fins 11. An air blast is directed parallel to the major axis of the anode. The cathode 4 is indirectly heated and is elongated in two mutually perpendicular planes; a control grid 6, screen grid 7, and beam forming plates 8 are provided. The cooling fins are of copper, have a circular outer periphery, and are spaced apart by copper washers ; the fins and washers are soldered together.
