610,268. Optical objectives. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and COX, A. April 3, 1946, No. 10298. [Class 97 (i)] In a telephoto objective of the type comprising a convergent front member separated by an airspace between .20 F. and .35 F. from a divergent meniscus doublet, F being the equivalent focal length of the objective, the convergent member consists of two meniscus doublets with outer surfaces convex to the front and separated by not more than .01 F., the internal contact surface of the front doublet being dispersive and that of the other doublet of the front member being collective, concave to the front and having a radius between .25 F. and F., and the rear doublet has its outer surfaces concave to the front and its internal contact surface collective and convex to the front. Data are given for an example of the objective shown in which the contact surface in the front doublet is broken and convex to the front.
