Abstract
561,156. Optical objectives. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and WARMISHAM, A. Nov. 3, 1942, No. 15475. [Class 97 (i)] In objectives comprising an asymmetrical simple divergent component behind two simple convergent components and in front of another convergent component, the convergent rear component is a triplet comprising a divergent element which is cemented between convergent elements and has a refractive index less than theirs by more than 06 and less than 16. The front cemented surface R<8> may be concave to the front and have radius between 19 and .28 times the equivalent focal length of the objective; the rear surface R<4> of the second component and the front surface R<5> of the third component may be convex to the front. Two of the four convergent elements may have mean refractive indices greater than 1.64, and the third, divergent component may have mean refractive index greater than 1.68.
