Abstract

697,366. Optical objectives. COOK, G. H., and TAYLOR, TAYLOR & HOBSON, Ltd. June 23, 1952 [Aug. 17, 1951], No. 19437/51. Class 97 (i). A telephoto objective connected for spherical and chromatic aberrations, coma, astigmatism and field curvature, comprises a rear divergent member widely separated from a convergent front member which consists of three simple components of which the first is convergent with surfaces convex to the front, the second is biconvex and the third biconcave, the curvature of the rear surface of the second component exceeding that of the front surface of the third component by between 0.02 and 0.2 times the equivalent power of the objective, whilst the radius of curvature of the front surface of the first component is less than 0.6F and greater than that of the front surface of the second component which is in turn greater than 0.2F, F being the equivalent focal length. Data are given for two examples.
