Abstract
575,441. Lenses. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and COX, A. Aug. 2, 1944, No. 14764. [Class 97 (i)] An objective corrected for spherical and chromatic aberrations, coma, astigmatism, field curvature and also for oblique spherical aberration, comprises a simple divergent corriponent disposed behind two convergent components and in front of another convergent component, the front and rear components being simple whilst the convergent second component is compound and consists of a double convex element cemented in front of a double concave element, the mean refractive index of the double convex element exceeding that of the double concave element by at least 0.06, the radius of curvature of the front surface of the simple divergent third component bearing to that of its rear surface a ratio between 1.0 and 2.0, and the axial air separation between the second and third components lying between 0.04 and 0.085 times the equivalent focal length of the objective. Data are given for two examples.
