Abstract

696,167. Optical objectives. BERTELE, L. July 26,1951, No. 17711/51. Class 97 (i). An objective consisting of four components, the first a simple convergent lens, the second a convergent meniscus convex towards the front, the third divergent and the fourth a simple convergent lens, the sum of the refractive index of the first lens and of the average refractive index of the elements of the second component for the d-line being greater than 3.10 is characterized in that the air space between the second and third components is shaped as a convergent meniscus convex towards the front, the sum of the thicknesses of the second and third components and of the airspace separating them is greater than 0.11f and smaller than 0.18f, where f is the focal length of the objective, and the AbbÚ number of the glass of the fourth component is less than 45.0. Numerical data are given for one example of the objective shown, for two examples in which all four components are simple and for one in which the third component is a cemented doublet, and the remainder simple components.
