Abstract
583,297. Lenses. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and WARMISHAM, A. Oct. 17, 1944, No. 20031. [Class 97 (i)] A corrected projection objective comprises two widely separated doublets each consisting of a convergent element disposed in front of but spaced slightly from a divergent element in which the radius of curvature R<1> of the front surface of the convergent element of the front doublet (i.e. the doublet nearest the longer congugate) is between 0.8 and 1.05 F., the radius R<2> is between F and 1.6 F., the ratio R<2> : R<3> is between 1 and 5: 4, the distance, S<2> is between 0.75 F. and 0.95 F. and the divergent element of the front doublet is of material having a refractive index between 1.64 and 1.72 and V number between 29 and 35, F being the equivalent focal length of the combination.
