Abstract

593,835. Lens systems. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and COX, A. June 15, 1945, No. 15209. [Class 97 (i)] In a telephoto objective comprising a front convergent meniscus doublet separated from a rear divergent meniscus doublet each convex to the front, the radius R4 of the front surface of the rear member lies between .20F and .30F, the radius R6 lies between .10F and .20F, and the axial thickness D1 of the convergent element of the front member is not less than .045F, where F is the equivalent focal length of the objective. The contact surfaces of the front or rear members may be cemented or separated by a small air-gap. Numerical data for three examples are given.
