Abstract

587,761. Optical systems. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and COX, A. Jan. 16, 1945, No. 1318. [Class 97 (i)] A corrected telephoto objective comprises a front convergent doublet having its front surface convex and its internal contact surfaces concave to the front and separated by an axial air space between .25f and .35f from a rear divergent doublet having its front and rear surfaces concave to the front, the radii of curvature of the front surfaces of each member respectively lying between .22 and .35f and .125 and .20f, where f is -the equivalent focal length, all four elements being of material of refractive index greater than 1.61. The contact surfaces of either or both doublets may be separated by a distance not greater than .010f. Examples are given of objectives in which the elements of the convergent or the divergent doublet are separated together, with constructiohal data.
