Abstract
593,839. Lens systems. TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd., and COX, A. June 18, 1945, No. 15392. [Class 97 (i)] A telephoto objective comprises a front convergent system consisting of a compound convergent member before a simple meniscus convergent member convex to the front, and a rear divergent meniscus doublet, the radii of the front and rear surfaces R7, R9 of which are respectively between .20 and .30 and between .10 and .20 times the equivalent focal length, the radius R5 of the front surface of the simple convergent member lying between .25 and .55 times such focal length and the difference between the radii of the front and rear surfaces of the whole convergent system being not less than .45 times such focal length. The contact surfaces of the front member may be cemented and those of the rear member air-spaced and of different radii or both surfaces may be cemented. Numerical data for three examples are given.
