702,629. Optical objectives. COLEMAN, K. R., and TAYLOR, TAYLOR, & HOBSON, Ltd. Dec. 17, 1952 [Jan. 4, 1952], No. 339/52. Class 97(1) A corrected objective particular for optical projection, comprises a convergent front member axially spaced from a rear member which comprises a divergent doublet component having a highly dispersive front surface and an internal contact surface convex to the front, located in front of two simple convergent components each having an equivalent focal length less than 3F, where F is the equivalent focal length of the complete objective, whilst the axial thickness of the doublet lies between .20F and .40F, the materials of all the elements of the objective having mean refractive indices greater than 1.580 whilst the front focal point of the objective lies between two planes respectively located .15F is front of the front surface of the objective and 50F behind such front surface. Numerical data are given for one example of the objective shown for one example in which the front member consists of a simple positive meniscus component convex towards the front.
