Abstract
609,401. Cycle brakes. LUMLEY, A. S. March 13, 1946, No. 7811. [Class 136 (i)] A cycle brake of the kind comprising an inverted U-shaped frame A adapted to be secured to a wheel fork B with its limbs depending at opposite sides of the rim, a pair of levers E, F pivoted one upon each of the frame limbs, operating means for moving the central parts of the levers towards one another against the action of spring means N, and brake blocks mounted on the levers between their pivots and the operating means, is characterised by the spring means N, being arranged to thrust outwardly upon the two levers E, F at points between their operating means and the brake blocks. Each lever E, F has a stud M near its upper end engaged by the adjacent limbs of the inverted U-shaped spring N, the arch of which is clamped against the base plate A by a washer O and bolt P.
