Abstract

841,771. Snare drums. DALLAS & SONS Ltd., J. E. June 9, 1958 [March 8, 1957], No. 7795/57. Class 88 (2). Snares are mounted at each side of a drum on rocking arms forming a parallel linkage, one arm being spring-biased and the other being manually-displaced to move the snare against the drum in opposition to the spring or to allow the spring to swing the snare away from the drum. Snares 21 are mounted on members pivoted to arms 17 and 18 which are themselves pivoted in brackets 14 and 15 at opposite sides of the drum 10. The arm 17 is biased by a coilspring 16 while the arm 18 is moved between two positions by a link 25 driven from a wheel 27 connected to a handle 29. A portion 32 of the periphery of wheel 27 is cut away and with pin 21 defines a released position, as shown in Fig. 4, and an engaged position when the link 25 is drawn into an over-dead-centre relationship with the wheel. The tension of the snares is adjustable by means of a finger nut 23.
