930,175. Toys. G. A. MANGOLD, [trading as GAMA GEORG ASLEM MANGOLD]. Jan. 9, 1962 [Jan. 21, 1961], No. 889/62. Class 132 (3). A toy such as a toy grab dredger has on the driving-shaft a friction wheel on which a bar pivotally connected to a movable figure lies under pressure. A blade 12 in the control grab supports a driving-shaft 18 mounting a friction wheel 19 against which one end of a bar 23 is pressed by a spring 21 anchored at one end to the cabin, the other end being pivoted to the body of a figure 25 pivoted at the base to a block 27. The shaft is rotated by a crank handle 15 which drives one of a pair of chain drums 13, 14 operating the grab, one drum having a lost-motion connection with the other drum. Leaf-springs engaging the toothed peripheries of the drums maintain their positions. The friction wheel may be made of rubber or alternatively comprises two discs with outwardly inclined edges freely movable on the shaft and pressed against a stop thereon by a spring. To vary the extent of movement of the figure it may be mounted on two levers of different lengths. One end of the arm 3 pivots on an extension of the cabin and intermediately pivotally connects with a rod 6 which is pivotally connected to a triangular plate 8, pivoting on a shaft 9 on a block 10. A lever 11 secured to the plate 8 is operated to adjust the inclination of the arm 3.
