[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, July 7, 1945.] [Class 136 (i)] A brake for cycles and motor-cycles has two arms comprising a rigid part 6 to which a brake shoe 12 is attached and a short plate spring 22 of which one end is connected to the lower end of the rigid arm part and the opposite end is fixed to a frame member, whereby the rigid arm parts are urged outwardly and means 19 connected to the upper ends of the rigid arm parts, which are spaced apart, whereby their arm parts may be swung inwardly against the action of the plate springs. The operating means 19 may be controlled by a twist-grip on the handlebar.
