Abstract
540,628. Cycle brakes. TOVEY, W., (trading as MONITOR BRAKE CO.). July 10, 1940, No. 11463. Addition to 476,765. [Class 136 (i)] The tie bars or wires 2 described in the parent Specification for linking the free ends of the arms of the caliper brake to the frame or forks for steadying purposes are connected to the arms a by a hook and eye connection 5, 6 to a screwed rod 7 slidably mounted in a tubular guide 8 formed on the free end of the arm or on a plate 9 secured to the end c<SP>3</SP> of the arm a by the bolt h carrying the brake block f. Lugs 11, 13 are bent from the plate to engage the end of the arm so as to prevent relative movement, and a nut 14 for tensioning purposes is held in adjustment by a cam-shaped boss 17 engaging a recess in the edge of the plate. The other end of the tie 2 is bent to engage the fork 4, or may be jointed to a clip on the fork as in the parent Specification.
