Abstract

496,827. Cycle brakes. BIRMING- HAM SMALL ARMS CO., Ltd., and SPECK, T. R. Aug. 23, 1937, No. 23015. [Class 136 (i)] In a cycle brake of the side-pull calliper type, a centralizing device adapted to equalize the spring- urged release movements of the two brake blocks comprises a plate 1 mounted on the fulcrum pin 3 of the brake levers 4 and provided with lugs 9, Figs. 2 and 3, on opposite sides, one of the lugs being arranged to form a stop adapted to engage one of the levers 4 at a position near the fulcrum pin so as to limit its outward movement, while the other lug 9 is arranged to engage the arm of the retracting- spring 7 located on the other side of the fulcrum pin, whereby when the outward movement of the first lever is arrested the spring acts solely on the other lever to ensure its outward movement. The central part of the spring 7 is clamped in a transverse groove in the end face of a sleeve 6 forming part of the means for clamping the fulcrum pin 3 and plate 1 to the cycle frame.
