Abstract

732,272. Disc brakes. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO., Ltd. April 27, 1954 [Jan. 28, 1953], No. 2493/53. Class 103 (1). In a spot-type disc brake for vehicles the pads 35, 36 are supported on parallel pairs of applying levers 13, 14 by means of rollers 33 and 34, the levers 13, 14 being pivoted at their lower ends on a pin 18 slidable in a slot 19 in a fixed bracket 12. The upper ends of levers 13 are offset and are pivoted to two parallel plates 11 by means of a pin 17. The upper ends of levers 14 are connected by pin 21 to a pull rod 22 which extends through the pin 17 and is locked to a lever 24 by a pin 23. Anticlockwise movement of lever 24 about its pivotal connection 25 with the plates 11. Thus first through rod 22 moves levers 14 to engage pads 36 with the disc 10, the force then being transmitted through pin 18 to levers 13 to apply pads 35. The brake is released by spring 32 on rod 22.
