Class 103(1) The friction elements 13 of a single disc spot type disc brake are applied by the arms 23 of levers 16 and 17 having co-operating lugs 24, one of the levers 17 having an extended arm 25 for connection to a cable or the like from the operator's control. The levers 16 and 17 are pivoted at 18 and 19 to slides 20 which are guided in longitudinal recesses or guideways in the housing 10 so that the forces exerted by the levers on each side of the disc become equalized. The co-operating faces of the lugs 24 are so shaped that their point of engagement remains substantially equidistant from the pivotal axes as the braking pads wear away.
