Abstract

591,126. Shock-absorbers for cycle handlebars. MASEYK, A. W. Sept. 24, 1945, No. 18775. [Class 136 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXII] In shock-absorbers for cycle handlebars of the kind in which a spider formed or mounted on the handlebar is surrounded by a rubber cushion which is non-rotatably mounted in the head or lug of the handlebar, the cushion D is non-rotatably mounted in a housing C which is adapted to be clamped in the head or lug 'B of the handlebar stem A. The handlebar G is provided with lever or levers F which are connected to the spider and bear against the head B to prevent relative rotation of the handlebar with respect to the handlebar stem. In a modification, the handlebar passes through the spider E and is secured to it, the handlebar being provided with plates O secured thereto. These plates bear against the head B and prevent relative rotation of the handlebar with respect to the handlebar stem about the substantially vertical axis of the latter.
