[Class 38 (i)] A two-part coupling, particularly for use with cables of the type described in Specification 565,782, comprises, Fig. 1, coupling portions 5, 6 in turn comprising moulded sheaths 23, 24, respectively, of flexible material covering insulating members 9, 10 and the conductors connected to the coupling portions, member 9 carrying moulded-in concentric plug contacts 1, 7 and member 10 carrying moulded-in socket contacts 4, 8. Contact 1 has an internal lever 2 pivoted therein and spring-urged through a slot in said contact into contact with socket 4, and the contacts 7, 8 are notched and screw-threaded to hold the coupling portions together. The faces of the sheaths abut and may be stepped, as shown, or have annular ridges or grooves to form a watertight seal. In Fig. 4, each of the coupling portions 11, 12 has three concentric contacts, the central pair 1, 4 being arranged as above and the second pair comprising interfitting rings 13, 14 one of which has resilient projections, e.g. stamped-out tongues 15, engaging the other. The third pair 16, 17 are screw-threaded, the latter contact being carried by an insulating collar 18 rotatable on the coupling portion 12, connection between which and contact 17 is maintained by a conducting projection 20 on said portion 12 engaging a conducting groove on the collar which is connected to contact 17. To prevent rotation of the engaged coupling, locking means of the bayonet-type may be provided.
