[Class 38 (i)] A plug-and-socket connector comprises a resilient split sleeve 10 which is slotted at 15 to engage retaining projections 31, 41 in an insulating body 30, 40, and pins 20 provided with hemicylindrical ends 22 of which the flats 23 are pressed into contact by the sleeve when the pins are inserted therein, and which are chamfered at 24 leaving a space for the projections. The sleeves are provided with circumferential ridges 14 which engage a locating groove 21 on the pins. The sleeves 10 are mounted in troughs 42 in the body base 40 which carries the co-operating bridge 30 which is provided with barriers 33 for sliding over triangular ribs 44 on the base and with positioning pins 32. A cover 50 is fitted over the assembly and co-operates with the base 40 to provide a recess 45, 53 into which the forepart 69 of a multipin plug 60, 61 is inserted, the recess and the part 69 being shaped to prevent incorrect coupling. A number of bases 40 and bridges 30 may be built up together, Fig. 11 (not shown), and the plug body is made of two co-operating parts each provided with retaining projections to engage slots 27 on the pins.. A modified socket comprises two integral sleeves made from a single blank (Fig. 5, not shown).
