Abstract

845,697. Two part couplings. MOUTTET, L. Aug. 22, 1958 [Aug. 27, 1957], No. 27031/58. Class 38(1). In an electrical two part connector comprising male and female parts 13, 12, mounted on metal sleeves 15, 14, the parts are rigidly locked together by catches 18, formed on flexible tongues 19, of sleeve 15, fitting in recesses 20 of sleeve 14 and are also held by spring 21. To disconnect the parts it is necessary to move, axially in the direction F., a key comprising a sleeve 22 fitting over sleeve 15 so that the upper edges of openings 23, through which project the catches 18, urge tongues 19 radially inwards, thereby liberating the catches 18 and unlocking the connector. In a second embodiment (Fig. 4, not shown) the catches, on tongues forming part of the female member, engage a groove on the male member. The key consists of an outer sleeve of insulating material, completely surrounding the female part, having a metal ring screwed inside it, with conical projections which, when the sleeve is moved axially, urge the catches radially away from the groove.
