Abstract

693,371. Cable joints. TELEGRAPH CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE CO., Ltd. July 12, 1951 [July 13, 1950], No. 17616/60. Class 38 (i). A moisture-proof cover for a multiple-conductor cable joint comprises a sleeve element, e.g. of polythene, consisting of a main part 1 enclosing the joints J between the conductors and closed at one end except for an aperture for one cable end C<SP>1</SP>, and a cap part 2 having a stem 5 which is a tight push fit in the other end of part 1. The cap also has an aperture for the other cable end C, both apertures being a tight fit round the cable ends. A bead on the stem 5 may interlock with a recess 8 in part 1. In a modification, the part 1 has caps 2 at both ends. For a three-way joint, Fig. 3 (not shown), the part 1 has a branching sleeve attached thereto and closed by a cap similar to the cap 2.
