Abstract

602,253. Cathode-ray tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and STOPPANI, F. W. May 17, 1945, No. 12474. [Class 39 (i)] The control electrode of an electron gun comprises two sleeves 1, 6, Fig. 3, one within the other, the outer sleeve having an apertured dome 7 projecting into an aperture 2 in the other, the correct separation between the sleeves being secured by an annular boss 5 outstanding from the inner sleeve and resting against the end of the outer sleeve. After assembly, the sleeves are spot-welded together by electrodes 9, 10 and the insulator 11, Fig. 1, carrying the cathode 14 is fixed within the inner sleeve by lugs 3, the pressure of the lugs being finally adjusted while observing the cathode position through observation holes 19, 20. The insulator 11 is in two parts joined by metal strips 12 and carrying the elongated cathode, with heaters 15 at the ends, in recesses.
