[Class 39 (i)] An indirectly-heated cathode for an electron gun is a hollow rectangular or cylindrical block 3, of high purified graphite, closed at one end and coated at that end only with electron emissive material 10. The heater is placed inside the block. It is stated that graphite is free from impurities which are liable to poison the electron emissive material.
