Abstract
601,064. Clearers for burr-crushing &c. rollers. VARGA, A., and MERCHANT, T. June 8, 1945, No. 14548. [Classes 120(i) and 120(ii)] A roller cleaning device has a movablymounted blade pressed against a roller by one or more tension springs which extend in the same direction as the blade, each spring being anchored by a quick-release means. The cleaning device is described in connection with rollers for crushing foreign bodies in carded webs, as disclosed in Specification 444,043. Each roller 1, 2 is provided with a blade 6 fixed to a carrier 5 mounted on arms 8 on cross-shafts 3. Springs 9 hold the blades 6 against the rollers and are mounted at their outer ends in fixed, slotted brackets 15 by means of threaded rods 12 and adjusting nuts 14. The rods 12 may readily be lifted from their slots in brackets 15 to release the tension of the springs and allow the blades to be moved away from the rollers. The blades may be pivotally mounted on the shafts 3 or slidably arranged on guide brackets.
