Abstract

598,999. Winding yarn. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. Sept. 7, 1945, No. 23090. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1944. [Class 120 (ii)] A traverse guide for a yarn-winding machine comprises a rotatable roller 11 having a circumferential groove 17 therein and adapted to make contact with the surface of the package 1 during winding and a non-rotatable guide 16 adapted to guide the yarn A into the groove 17, the roller 11 and guide 16 being adapted to be traversed together along the length of the package. The rodler 11, which is preferably rounded at its ends at 12 and carried by ball bearings on a spindle 14 in a U-shaped holder 15 on a carriage 4, is reciprocated along a track 6 by a cam-operated rod 8. The yam also passes over a freely-rotatable roller-bail 18. The arm 7 on which the track 6 is formed, pivots away from the package as it grows and actuates a stop motion when the package reaches a predetermined size.
