Abstract

935,507. Winding yarn. MUSCHAMP TEXTILE MACHINERY (SALES) Ltd. Sept. 12, 1961 [Oct. 14, 1960], No. 35256/60. Class 120 (2). A cop winding device has a rotatable member 20 over which the yarn 19 is initially passed along a path 19b to form a bunch winding on the cop 15. The movement of the yarn causes the member 20 to rotate and this rotary movement is used to cause the member 20 to withdraw along its polar axis so that the yarn eventually drops off the member 20 to a position 19a where it is caught up in a yarn reciprocating member 17. The shaft of the member 20 may have a screw-threaded portion engageable by spring- loaded finger on the frame of the apparatus such that as the shaft is rotated by the member 20 said shaft is forced to move axially. The rotatable member 20 may be eccentrically mounted or be peripherally non-circular to effect traverse of the yarn during bunchbuilding. The cop carrier 14 is urged to the right, as by weight means, into engagement with a freely rotatable cone 16 (not shown), the function of which is to determine the finished outer diameter of the cop by causing the carrier to be pushed to the left as the package is built up.
