Abstract

909,669. Yarn-holding devices. SCRIVEN, F. W. A. July 6, 1960, No. 23577/60. Class 120 (2). A device on which a few turns of yarn are wound after completion of a spinning &c. operation and before doffing, so that when the bobbin is doffed the yarn is severed, comprises a cylindrical member 62 which is part of, or adapted to fit around the spindle below the bobbin, and has one or more circumferential grooves or threads. Axial grooves e.g. 68 are provided so that accumulated yarn can be removed by running a knife down one of them. In the form shown, the member is fixed to the spindle and has recesses in its lower face to engage the driving members on the spindle normally engaging the lower ends of the bobbins.
