Abstract

873,256. Drawtwisting apparatus. CHEMSTRAND CORPORATION. April 30, 1959, No. 14792/59. Class 120(2) In a drawtwister for filamentary material in which the drawing and twisting means are driven by common means, a slip-coupling is provided between the driving and drawing means to prevent over-feeding at starting and stopping. As applied to a Whitin draw-twister, Fig. 1, where for each filament, is provided a package 13, a traverse guide 18, a cot 22, a pin 32 and a draw roll 33 over which the thread is wrapped several times, and a ring-spindle 44, the rolls 22 and 33 and the spindles are driven from a motor 30 as shown diagramatically in Fig. 2. A slipcoupling, which may be frictional, magnetic or centrifugal, is provided between the rolls and the motor to offset the effect of the slip between the tapes 46 and the spindles at starting and stopping.
