Abstract
594,259. Hook fastenings. SEED, D., and FITZPATRICK, H. J. June 6, 1945, No. 14259. [Classes 44 and 89 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] A releasable retaining device for dinghy stowage covers comprises a plate 1 mounted on the stowage compartment to which is pivoted at 2 a member 3 having a slot 5A adapted to engage a shackle on the cover, the member 3 being biassed by a spring 15 in the opening direction but held in the engaged position by a roller 13 on a bell-crank lever 10 coupled to a movable rod 14. On movement of the rod for release the roller 13 rides out of contact with the surface 8 a projection 16 on the member 3 then riding over the roller to release the shackle. Preferably the cover is hinged at one end and provided at the other with two spaced shackles engaging corresponding catches on the compartment.
