Abstract
620,007. Automatic catches. WILMOTBREEDEN, Ltd., and SATCHWELL, F. J. Jan. 1, 1947, No. 54. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXXI] A fastening for a motor-car bonnet comprises a plunger 9 secured to the bonnet, adapted to enter a barrel 1 and compress a loading spring 4 therein acting through a sliding plate 5, and a spring- loaded pivoted catch 12 for securing the plunger. The plunger has two spaced shoulders 10, 11, one 11 being larger than the other. In the closed position shown the catch 12 engages the smaller shoulder 10 from which it is released by means of a pin 17 sliding in a slot and operated from within the car by a flexible cable 18. The plunger is then displaced by the spring 4 until the catch engages the shoulder 11. The fingers may then be inserted beneath the bonnet to release the catch 12 completely by means of a handle 15.
