Abstract

452,217. Chain couplings ; fastenings. STEIGENBERGER, F., 7, Marktplatz, Ulmon-Danube, Germany. Feb. 18, 1935, No. 5251. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Aug. 19, 1935.] [Classes 24 and 44] A chain coupling device of the type in which a pivoted latch 7 is retained in closed position by a keeper 13 sliding on the body part 1, the end of the latch is formed with a cam surface 25 which automatically moves back the keeper when it is moved to closed position. The keeper may be associated with a member 18 having a projection 28 which, in the movement of the keeper to release the latch, abuts behind the cam portion 25 of the latter and starts the opening movement. The keeper may be spring-actuated, as shown, or held in its closed position by a spring catch. In a modification, for heavy work, the latch 7 may have a long actuating handle which in the closed position overhangs the body part 1 and may have a downward extension passing through the eye 12, Fig. 7 (not shown). The coupling may be provided with means for remote control as in dog leads &c., and may be made in small sizes as fasteners for necklaces, watch chains, bag handles, &c.
