Abstract
517,863. Electrically- - controlled fastenings. COX, S. C. May 30, 1939, No. 16998/38. [Class 44] In an electrically-controlled door &c. fastening of the kind in which the keeper for the latch or lock bolt nas a pivoted abutment member normally held in fastening position by a catch which can be released by electromagnet to allow the abutment to swing clear as the door &c. is opened, the abutment 13, pivoted at 12, is held by a hook 19 pivoted at 20 and engaging a shoulder on the abutment, the other end of member 19 being connected to a toggle link device 21, 24, 25 normally biassed towards aligned position by a spring 28. The links are kept slightly out of line, as shown, by an adjustable screw 29, and are held against collapse by a projection 32 on the armature 31 of an electromagnet 30. The engaging nose of the hook is inclined so that, when the projection 32 is withdrawn, opening pressure on the door causes the hook to ride clear, the links collapsing to the right, Fig. 1, during this movement.
