Abstract
613,633. Washing-boilers. BURCO, Ltd., and WARD, D. K. June 21, 1946, No. 18721. [Class 64(i)] [Also in Group XXV] A wash boiler lid a is provided with a spring or springs c, which raise the lid automatically, and an automatic catch which holds the lid closed when lowered to the closed position. The lid a has two hinges b with springs c coiled round the hinge pins c so that one end of each spring bears against the body of the boiler and the other end bears against the hinge to force the lid open. An L-shaped release plate d adapted to slide in a. guide e fixed to the body of the boiler engages the edge f of the lid. The vertical limb of the plate d is secured to one end of a plunger g engaging with a spring-loaded lever h pivoted on a bracket on the boiler body. Attached to the lever h is a finger plate k by which the lever is oscillated to release the plunger g and slide the plate d out of engagement with the lid a. The plate d has a bevelled edge d<1> to facilitate closure of the lid.
