Abstract
353,769. Boxes. RAMSDEN, W. F. and ROED, C. F., 18, Warwick Street, London. Sept. 25, 1930, No. 28740. [Class 18.] The lid B of a box is hinged to the body A by a series of knuckles C, D, the knuckles C being carried by the lid and the knuckles D by a tube D<1> through which a flat torsion spring e is arranged with one end c<1> connected to the lid and the other d' to the tube while a second flat torsion spring f, parallel to the spring e, is arranged in a tube F integral with the tube D<1> with one end f<2> fixed to the tube and the other end f<1> to the body A of the box. The lid is secured in the closed position by a catch G engaging a slot g in the.top of the box and to open the lid it is pressed slightly downwards and forwards against the action of the spring f to move the catch free of the edge g<1> of the slot g and, when released, the lid is opened by the action of the spring e<1>. A stop k on the tube contacts with the bottom of the box to prevent the lid opening too far.
