Class 123(1) The valve 3 fitted on the handle of the pressure cooker lid 1 disclosed in the parent Specification is provided with a projection 8 which is adapted to prevent the attachment of the lid to the cooker 2 when the valve is in the closed position and also to ensure that the cover and lid are in proper engagement before the valve may be closed. The projection 8 is preferably an extension of that part 4 of the valve which engages a pin 5 on the handle of cooker, when the cooker is in use, to prevent removal of the lid until the valve is opened. A recess 10 is provided to accommodate the projection 8 when the valve is closed, also stops 11, 12 to determine the closed and open positions of said valve.
