Abstract
274,497. Tecalemit, Ltd., (Assignees of Soc. Anon des Etablissements TÚcalÚmit). July 15, 1926, [Convention date]. Stud-and-slot fastenings; catches yielding to pull and pressure.-A fastening for motor-bonnets and like articles comprises a member protruding from the bonnet flap guided into engagement with a pivoted member o members on the chassis, such member or members being actuated by a spring secured at one end to the chassis and at the other to a point on the member other than its pivotal axis. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the flap 1 carries a handle 3 on the outside and a projection 2 on the inside having a bar 6 which can enter guide slots 16 in the limbs of a U- shaped bracket 8 bolted to the chassis. In entering, the bar engages the edge 13a of a slot in a member 13 pivoted at 12 between the limbs of the member 8, causing the member 13 'to rock until the spring 15, anchored to the bracket 8 at 11 and to the catch 13 at 14, passes its dead centre when the edge 13 presses on the upper side of the bar 6 and secures it. Pulling on the handle 3 reverses the action and releases the flaps. In the form shown in Figs. 3, two catches 13, hinged together at 21 and slidably hinged to the bracket 8 by pins 12 and slots 20 are employed. As the flap is closed, the bar 6 pushes the pivoted bar 21 inwards until the springs 15 pass their dead centres, when they pull the limbs 13 of the catches over the bar 6 to secure it. Release is effected by a strong pull on the handle. In the form shown in Fig. 5, 'the securing member 13 is held in inoperative position by the limb 25 of a catch 25 pivoted to the bracket 8 at 26. As the projection 2 on the flap enters between the limbs of the bracket, the bar 6 trips the catch 25 and the spring 15 pulls the member 13 over the bar, securing it until a strong upward pull is exerted on it. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the forms shown in Figs. 7 (Cancelled), 9 (Cancelled), and 10 (Cancelled). In the form shown in Fig. 7 (Cancelled), the projection 2 is in the shape of a bent rod with a mushroom head 6 adapted to enter a hole, 30 in the cylindrical bracket 8. In entering the head engages the limb 36 of the catch 36, rocking it on. its pivot 35 and disengaging the slide 37 of its head 37 from a fixed shoulder on the bracket, and causing the other side 37 to engage the head 6, release being prevented by the pushing of the head 6 into 'the socket so that the head 37 is not opposite the shoulder. The catch 36 is pivoted on a spring-urged pivoted arm 31 to permit this. Release is effected by an upward pull. In the form shown in Fig. 9 (Cancelled), the head 6 is T-shaped and each limb of the T-shape is forced down the inclined heads 43 of pivoted catches 40 until they snap behind them. The handle, Fig. 10 (Cancelled) is formed by two symmetrical stampings 3a, 3 joined by a rod 18 and sleeves 19. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
