591,741. Gas - blast switches. ALLMANNA S V E N S K A ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. May 14,1945, No. 12027. Convention date, May 20, 1944. [Class 38(v)] In an air-blast switch provided with auxiliary contacts 18, 21 in series with a resistance 23 which shunts the main contacts 8, 9, the reduced cross-section of an air delivery channel 3 delays the opening of the contacts 18, 21 until the arc formed at the main contacts 8, 9 is extinguished. Air admitted at 4 raises a piston 25 against a spring 26, moving a sleeve contact 24 so as to expose the channel 3 and to act on the upper face of the piston 10, so opening the contacts 8, 9. After a delay, the air raises a piston 19 and opens the contacts 18, 21. In Fig. 1 (not shown), the parts 24, 25, 26 are omitted.
