Abstract

592,024. Gas - blast switches. ALLMANNA S V E N S K A ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. May 2, 1945, No. 11079. Convention date, May 11, 1944. [Class 38(v)] A pneumatically-actuated circuit-breaker having two series-connected breaking gaps as in Specification 591,682, is modified so that the load current is interrupted and the arc extinguished at the main gap 13, 14, before the piston 6, which is damped by a piston 10, reaches the end of its travel and opens a channel 23 to admit compressed air to the piston 5, to open auxiliary contacts 17, 18 and retain them open in a pressureatmosphere. At the end of its travel, the piston 5 opens a channel 25 so that compressed air now acts on both sides of the piston 6, which is reclosed by its spring 12. For rapid reclosure, compressed air is delivered to the pipe 22, but for normal opening a disconnecting switch 19, 20 is operated.
