Abstract

591,682. Gas - blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. May 2, 1945, No. 11078. Convention date, May 11, 1944. [Class 38(v)] A pneumaticallyactuated circuit-breaker having two series-connected breaking gaps as in Specification 564,949, is modified so that the delivery of compressed air to the piston 13 takes place through a channel 18 which is opened by the piston 9 of the main resistance-shunted break 7, 8 when it nears the end of its travel. The piston 13, which has a boss 23 located in a hole in the cylinder 12, thus opens contact 21, and at the end of its travel opens a channel 16 so that compressed air now acts on both sides of the piston 9, which is reclosed by its spring 24. The gap 20, 21 remains open until disconnect switch is opened, or compressed air is delivered to the pipe 15. Movement of both pistons is buffered by resilient insulating material 11, 14.
