Abstract

671,288. Air-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. Aug. 15, 1950. [Aug. 18, 1949] No. 20210/50. Class 38 (v). To prevent condensation in the space 3 between the outer ceramic insulator 2 and the inner organic lining cylinder 1 of the extinguishing chamber or other insulating structure of an air-blast circuit-breaker, the space 3 is in communication with the interior of the liner 1 though ducts 4 and with the atmosphere through ducts 5. Thus compressed air from the interior of the liner 1 flows through the space 3 and the cross-section of the ducts 5 is such that a pressure two or more times atmospheric pressure is maintained in the space 3. Alternatively, and as shown, the ducts 5 may be provided with spring-loaded valves 6. In the figure the circuit-breaker has a fixed nozzle contact 7 and a movable contact 9 which is operated by a piston (not shown) in a cylinder 10.
